A Level Art Show
A fantastic evening of stunning art produced by our Year 13 students. Good job, you will be hugely missed!
Showcased at the A Level Art Show was a variety of different compositions and styles of art such as sculptures, drawing, painting and photography. The display of work produced by our sixth form students reflected the dynamics and creativity in just one year group – it’s clear that those who will be studying the subject further next year will do extremely well!
The Art Department were very proud of the work produced by their A Level students. The exhibition was amazing and students were given the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their fantastic and diverse art work.
Every student investigated a personal theme to their work taking inspiration from bugs and their influence on sculpture and engineering, engaging with contemporary concepts of beauty and the very topical idea of ‘fake news’ and how ‘truth’ is constructed.
Selected work that was displayed at the A Level Art Show was also seen at the Crouch End festival at the beginning of June.
The Assistant Headteacher of Highgate Wood School writes:
Highgate Wood School supported local primary schools for the Crouch End Festival. One of the many highlights was the schools’ art exhibition, what amazing work was showcased! Well done to all the students who were involved and a massive thank you to the Art and PHSEE department for helping sort out our contribution.
With the success of the A Level Art Show and the Crouch End Festival, pieces of work is due to be exhibited at MADfest night at the end of June. It’s predicted to be held at the entrance of the festival to set the exciting mood of the evening.
