Berlin Art Trip
A Level Art Trip to Berlin
From the 13th to 16th of February, our Year 12 and 13 A-Level Art and Photography students had the opportunity to embark on an educational trip to Berlin. With 31 students and 4 staff members, we stayed at a hostel near Zoologischer Garten, right in the heart of the city. The aim of the trip was to immerse the students in the rich art and cultural scene of Berlin, providing them with an international context for their studies.
We visited a variety of galleries, including the Berlinische Galerie, East Side Gallery, America House Gallery, and the Bauhaus Archive Museum of Design. These visits allowed students to explore different artistic movements and deepen their understanding of art history. However, some of the most memorable moments came from our visits to historical sites. The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Bernauerstrasse Berlin Wall Memorial were particularly moving, giving students an emotional connection to Berlin’s complex history. The Teufelsberg Spy Station was also a standout, offering a unique perspective on the Cold War and the role Berlin played during that time.
Throughout the trip, our students displayed impeccable behaviour, showing respect for both the city and each other. They engaged with the culture and history with enthusiasm and thoughtfulness, making the trip both enjoyable and educational. A huge thank you to the staff for organising such a successful and enriching experience. This trip truly broadened the students’ perspectives, and we hope it will be a lasting inspiration for their studies and future creative endeavours.
