The amount of teaching time that was lost overall, and what alternative provision for remote education was delivered to students
At Highgate Wood School students were sent home at the beginning of the National Lockdown. Initially students were taught via Powerpoint presentations which were placed on Show My Homework. At the beginning of July we introduced video lessons, two per subject per week. Many students found learning remotely very challenging.

Any disruption to your normal university application processes
Students did not attend the UCAS Convention in March or visit universities in person. Usually we would launch the UCAS process over several study sessions with our students. This year, we had to place presentations on Show My Homework. We have tried to spend as much face to face time as possible on UCAS applications this term but for the first month (due to staggered starts and younger students having to line up in the playground) tutor time did not exist. It was very hard for students to see their tutors for the usual one to one advice and guidance due to the different zones and lesson times across the school.

Any impact on the information used to determine predicted grades; for example, the cancellation of internal assessments
Internal end of year exams were cancelled in July 2020. We held ‘understanding checks’ at the end of September. However, to reduce levels of anxiety among Year 13, we chose for students to sit one paper of 90 minutes per subject. We used these assessments plus other data from Year 12 to determine predicted grades
