Every year, the National Literacy Trust run a national quiz competition for school students aged 10-14.

In February, we invited students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to sign up for a trial quiz in the LRC in order to select two teams for the regional heat. We had so many students keen to test their book knowledge that we had to run two separate try-out events! The ten students who made it through to our official teams should be very proud of themselves.

On 12th March, our teams competed in an online heat attended by 25 teams from 14 schools in our region.

The quiz was entertainingly hosted by Mr Dilly, and consisted of 8 challenging rounds which tested our students’ knowledge of a wide range of books.

Tension was high as we waited to hear the outcome at the end of the event. I could not be prouder to announce that Highgate Wood Team A placed second, while just one point ahead of them Highgate Wood Team B took first place!

Our teams have won book tokens, plus for Team B the regional trophy and a place at the Grand Final on 5th June!
