Updated: Royal College of Art Young Art Competition
UPDATE:
The recent RCA Young Art Exhibition was abuzz with excitement as hordes of family and friends – a large contingent of which were HWS families – pitched to support the aspiring young artists. We are most grateful for the overwhelming support that our School received.
Young Art is an incredible cause that raises funds for the wonderful team, led by Dr Karin Straathof, at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. They are carrying out important research into childhood cancers. The first Young Art exhibition in 1990 comprised 120 paintings. Over the past three decades they have raised more than £1.25million for research into childhood cancers and given thousands of schoolchildren the unique opportunity to have their work judged by professional artists, as well as the experience of seeing their picture exhibited at London’s Royal College of Art.
Dozens of HWS pupils must be congratulated for putting their creative flair to the test this year by pitting themselves against a staggering 6500 initial entrants, all aged between Year 1-13. The entries were whittled down to a mere 200 from there – these being the artworks that would be displayed at the actual exhibition. We are incredibly proud of the following students for managing to reach this prestigious stage of the competition and having their pieces displayed:
