Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th October is “Our History through the words of Maya Angelou”
“Our History through the Words of Maya Angelou” is a production from our drama department that will take place in the main hall on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Come along and watch our talented students perform a piece for Black History Month.
Wednesday 30th October is Diana Trust Anti-Bulling Ambassador Training Day
Students from local schools, together with some of our own students will be involved in the Diana Trust Anti-bullying Ambassador Day we are hosting on Wednesday 30th October. For more information please visit www.antibullyingpro.com/getinvolved.
Monday 4th November is our Laurie Cunningham Workshop
Laurie Cunningham, reportedly the first black player to represent England on the international stage and an ex-student of Highgate Wood School is the subject of a new play sponsored by the Kick It Out campaign. We are hosting a workshop and showcase by the actors and others from that production. Selected students from Years 9 and 10 will join those from Fortismere, Park View, Woodside High and Heartlands. The event is scheduled for 4th November and will run from 10:00 until 12:00.
Thursday 21st November is Year 7 Well Being Day
All students in Year 7 will be off-timetable on Thursday 21st November for a well-being day, where they will take part in a number of different workshops and activities to broaden their repertoire of strategies for dealing with various issues and maintaining good mental health.
Monday 25th November is Chai Day
As part of the work of the Global Feminist group and The Circle NGO, we are going to be running a Chai Day on Monday 25th November – the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
This will be an after school event where we will be inviting local residents and parents into school for tea and biscuits, and share information with them about the issue. We will also be using this day, and theme, to run a Model UN practice conference with our students.
