Year 8 Geography Rewards Trip – Kew Gardens
Mr Uyar writes:
This trip was to reward those students who went over and above in Geography in Year 8 this year. Students were given a 45 minute interactive lesson in the Palm House rainforest biome by one of the specialists based in Kew. Here students learnt about the spectrum of products and services, such as the caner fighting properties of the periwinkle as well as the 2.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide sequestered every year by the rainforest flora! Students also used the time to explore both the Temperate House and the Princess of Wales Conservatory before having the privilege of walking through the canopy and up to the emergent layer on the ‘tree top walk’ for one of the most spectacular views of London.Â
