Highgate Wood School LRC
Reading for pleasure is encouraged and the library can provide inspiring materials for all learners. Students may borrow up to two books at a time for a two week period.
The LRC is a good place to find out about competitions and other events. Students are encouraged to write and share reviews of books they’ve read, enter competitions and get involved in activities such as author visits. The LRC is open throughout the day from 8.15 am to 4.30 pm. Students may read or study here before school, during break times and after school. Classroom teachers can book the LRC for groups or classes during lesson times for access to books and computers.
Students in KS3 are enrolled in the Accelerated Reader programme. This helps monitor and manage independent reading practice.
What’s on?
The LRC runs book clubs, presents regular author events and organises the HWS Book Award. For more information about all of our activities, please visit our blog.
