International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
Supporting Chai Day, the issue of our practice Model UN conference is the treatment of women around the world. Much of the material we are using is from our first Model UN conference in 2015. Sadly, the issues still remain. There has been some progress in some countries, but we continue to have inequality, unfairness and discrimination as well as harassment, abuse and violence towards women in virtually every region of our world.
Chai Day is a movement and fundraising initiative coordinated by The Circle to support survivors of gender-based violence. Originally the day was started by The Asian Circle in 2016. Their goals are the same as The Circle. Chai Day lands on the 25th November, this is because The Circle wants to focus the conversation on the day of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
